*Teacher's Aide is limited and by application only. Please select a Teacher's Aide day (up to 2 days) if you are interested in applying and you will receive an additional application.
*Speech communication - A high school speech credit during the course of 9th-12th grade is required to graduate.
All club options are offered on two days, your student may pick a club for each day of the school week.
If choosing Life Skills, this is considered a class and will require both days offered to be chosen.

ELECTIVE HOUR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
-Speech Communication: A course to develop the student's skills, knowledge, and understanding of the public speaking process. This course includes instruction in adapting speech to different audiences and purposes. Students will have the opportunity to present different types of oral presentations including viewpoint, instructional, demonstration, informative, persuasive, and impromptu.
-Choir: Students will learn singing techniques, music theory, and musicality through fun and engaging activities. Students will demonstrate unity and excellence through performance opportunities throughout the school year.
-Art: Students learn to utilize the Elements of Art and Principles of Design in creating their masterpieces. This course will teach the fundamentals of art, including drawing, painting, use of mixed media, and design. Students will learn the history of art. They will also develop their own creative skills through hands-on projects and activities. Students compete in the annual Fine Arts competition.
-Theater Art: Theater Art will develop students in the various aspects of drama stage production behind the scenes including stagecraft, set design, construction, lighting, props selection and use, costuming, and makeup. Students will participate hands-on and learn the practical skills necessary to create a successful stage show behind the scenes.
-Film v. Lit: Literature and Film class examines the comparisons between works of literature and their movie adaptations. Throughout the year, our class will consider what happens when a novel is adapted into a film. Besides the accuracy, the students will be considering the culture and history from which the texts are written.
-Theater Performance: Through creative, engaging activities and lessons, theater performance class helps you learn many diverse skills. Through our theater performance class, you will learn techniques to enhance confidence and teamwork, public speaking, performing, reading & analyzing scripts, and character development. We will study show production and performance. The Theater Performance students will have the opportunity to perform and showcase throughout the year as well as at our state competition for our annual Fine Arts.
-P.E.: This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to develop and maintain a physically active lifestyle. Students will learn about the benefits of physical activity for their health, fitness, and overall well-being. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities.
CLUB HOUR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
-Life Skills: This course is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Students will learn about personal finance, time management, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal relationships. They will also learn about how to manage stress and cope with difficult emotions.
-Art Club: Art club is for students of all skill levels who are interested in exploring their creativity through art. We will focus on having fun and creating art that is both personal and expressive. We will also learn about different art techniques, including drawing, painting, mixed media, and photography. Students will have an opportunity to participate in creating a mural.
-Strings Class: Group strings lessons are offered to beginner through intermediate level students. Students will learn the basics of music theory, musicality, and skills and techniques for their own instruments. Instrument options: violin, viola, and cello. Lesson and instrument fees apply.
-Computer Club: Through the computer club, students will learn efficient computer skills, such as accurate keyboarding, word processing, and the use of presentation software. Students will learn how to use a keyboard efficiently through fun interactive typing lessons, create documents in Microsoft Word, create presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, and design graphics in Canva.
-Bible Quizzing: Bible Quizzing is a competition between teams over knowledge of a pre-determined section of the Bible using speed, accuracy, and strategy. Bible Quizzing is an opportunity for students to learn Scripture and grow in their faith and leadership skills. Bible Quizzing teams participate in state competition through Fine Arts annually in addition to in-house meets throughout the year.
-Strategy Games Club: Through the strategy game club, students will learn to think critically and analyze strategy. Throughout the year, students will focus on a variety of strategy games. They will take time to analyze, discuss, test their strategies, and compete. They will participate in workshops to create, teach, and play their own board games. This club will help students to develop critical thinking, effective communication, and situational analysis. We will discuss what is required to play a variety of games and how those skills and strategies can be applied to other areas of life.
-Yearbook: The yearbook club will learn the basic skills to create a high-quality yearbook. The yearbook club will include developing skills to write and caption, taking and editing photos, designing pages and spreads, utilizing yearbook software, and working with a team to meet deadlines for an overall yearbook production. Students will gain an appreciation for the importance of yearbooks as historical records.
-Teacher's Aide: A student teacher aide is a student who works under the supervision of a teacher to provide support and assistance to the teacher and students in the classroom. Teacher Aides may assist in class preparations, grading papers, and assisting to supervise students. They will have the opportunity to learn about teaching and education through hands-on experience and observing how teachers interact with students, plan lessons, and manage a classroom.
