All 6th-8th grade students will participate in choir and Glow Groups (small group devotionals)
All club options are offered on two days, your student may pick a club for each day of the school week.
If choosing Life Skills, this is considered a class and will require both days offered to be chosen.
(Wednesdays club time is reserved for Glow Groups)
ELECTIVE HOUR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
-Art: Students learn to utilize the Elements of Art and Principles of Design in creating their masterpieces. This course will teach the fundamentals of art, including drawing, painting, use of mixed media, and design. Students will learn the history of art. They will also develop their own creative skills through hands-on projects and activities. Students compete in the annual Fine Arts competition.
-Theater Performance: Through creative, engaging activities and lessons, theater performance class helps you learn many diverse skills. Through our theater performance class, you will learn techniques to enhance confidence and teamwork, public speaking, performing, reading & analyzing scripts, and character development. We will study show production and performance. The Theater Performance students will have the opportunity to perform and showcase throughout the year as well as at our state competition for our annual Fine Arts.
CLUB HOUR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
-Life Skills: This course is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Students will learn about personal finance, time management, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal relationships. They will also learn about how to manage stress and cope with difficult emotions.
-Art Club: Art club is for students of all skill levels who are interested in exploring their creativity through art. We will focus on having fun and creating art that is both personal and expressive. We will also learn about different art techniques, including drawing, painting, mixed media, and photography. Students will have an opportunity to participate in creating a mural.
-Strings Class: Group strings lessons are offered to beginner through intermediate level students. Students will learn the basics of music theory, musicality, and skills and techniques for their own instruments. Instrument options: violin, viola, and cello. Lesson and instrument fees apply.
-Computer Club: Through the computer club, students will learn efficient computer skills, such as accurate keyboarding, word processing, and the use of presentation software. Students will learn how to use a keyboard efficiently through fun interactive typing lessons, create documents in Microsoft Word, create presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, and design graphics in Canva.
-Bible Quizzing: Bible Quizzing is a competition between teams over knowledge of a pre-determined section of the Bible using speed, accuracy, and strategy. Bible Quizzing is an opportunity for students to learn Scripture and grow in their faith and leadership skills. Bible Quizzing teams participate in state competition through Fine Arts annually in addition to in-house meets throughout the year.
-Strategy Games Club: Through the strategy game club, students will learn to think critically and analyze strategy. Throughout the year, students will focus on a variety of strategy games. They will take time to analyze, discuss, test their strategies, and compete. They will participate in workshops to create, teach, and play their own board games. This club will help students to develop critical thinking, effective communication, and situational analysis. We will discuss what is required to play a variety of games and how those skills and strategies can be applied to other areas of life.
-Spanish Club: The Spanish Club is a fun and engaging club course for students who are interested in learning more about the Spanish language and culture. In this club, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice their Spanish speaking and listening skills, learn about Spanish customs and traditions, and participate in cultural activities such as cooking, playing games, and exploring Spanish events.
